Jabari Parker on the Move?

First Fred Hoiberg bites the dust, then Jim Boylen comes in with an agenda and the whole team stages a mutiny, and now Jabari Parker has been dropped from the rotation and placed on the trade block. Things are an absolute mess in Chicago and the Gar/Pax regime doesn’t seem like the most apt people to fix it. The thing that’s so odd about it is that they do have assets. Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen , Wendell Carter Jr., and Kris Dunn are all promising young pieces and should be a part of the solution, not the problem. Reportedly Markkanen and Robin Lopez had to talk their Bull teammates off the ledge in regards to no-showing practice. The dysfunction stems from the top and it’s polluting these players and mucking up Chicago’s future.

The Parker thing is fascinating to me as they already want to ship him put of town. In Milwaukee, Parker never got along with coaches and was regularly subject to cuts in playing time and even got dropped from the rotation in last season’s first round series versus Boston. It seems like his attitude and overall effort are the problem and it’s rearing its ugly head early on in his Bull career. For a team to invest 40 million dollars in you and then want to dump you off 29 games into said contract, things can’t be good. They have kind of an overload at power forward (Markannen, Portis, Carter, etc.) and with Parker’s limited skillset and poor defensive ability, it’s hard to see a need for him on the court. He’s a volume scorer and shooting 45/29/72 isn’t going to cut it and if he can’t score then what else does he provide? As a former member of the Jabari Parker fan club, he doesn’t provide much of anything other than scoring. His 109.8 defensive rating 98.8 offensive rating and -11 net rating tell the story, he’s inefficient, doesn’t defend, and is a minus player.

The question for the Bulls is where do they go now. I think getting Parker out of town would be a step in the right direction but they still need to address the coaching situation. It doesn’t seem like Boylen is the right man for the job and he’s clashed with most of the roster. They need to get somebody in there who will get in Zach LaVines ear and help this team make a leap in the right direction. The thing is, I don’t have any confidence in the Bull’s ability to bring in a coach to do those things. They thought Fred Hoiberg would be a good fit coaching Jimmy Butler, they clearly do not know what they are doing.

Lets just say the do get a solid coach in there, the next thing I would do is try to get a point guard. Right now they have Ryan Arcidiacono and Cameron Payne as their ball handlers and god do they have to do better than that. Throw money at somebody in the offseason or draft someone with what for sure will be a top pick, and build around this point guard, LaVine, Markkanen, and Wendell. I don’t have all of the answers to the test, but I definitely think I can run the Bulls way better than Gar/Pax and there aren’t many things you can say to me to change my mind on that.
